BRASIL CUP FOOTBALL IS HERE. After a near month-long training block at CT das Vargens, Flamengo return to competitive action on Thursday night (15 October) with a classic Carioca derby awaiting them. The women's side will take on Fluminense at Estádio Luso Brasileiro at 19:00 local time in the first leg of the quarter-finals. Entry is free.
Under manager Celso Silva's charge, Flamengo have navigated the tournament with impressive results. The Rubro-Negro saw off Liga Sanjoanense/Piripiri 2-0 in the opening phase and then defeated 3B da Amazônia 1-0 in the Round of 16. From this stage onward, ties are decided over two legs. Flamengo, having won the first-leg draw, hold home advantage.
Fresh from a third-place finish in the Campeonato Brasileirão Feminino, captain and midfielder Djeni spoke with confidence following the squad's pre-match preparations and outlined their ambitions for the tie.
"I believe we've done excellent preparation and we're ready for the classic. We've faced Fluminense several times already this season, so we know it will be a huge match and we need real focus. It's a game of details and we really want to make a strong start. After all, our goal is to reach the semi-finals. I'd like to call on the Flamengo faithful to come and support us," she said.
Lubrax makes its mark on the Manto
Flamengo's women's kit receives a significant new partner from Thursday onward, with Lubrax making its debut on the Manto das Meninas. The brand, which previously partnered with Flamengo's men's side during the Zico era and other pivotal moments in club history, has returned to the Rubro-Negro and will feature on the back of the women's shirt for the first time.
